The Laird’s Lady

I really enjoyed this story, I loved the way Patti took me through a Scottish castle steeped with mystery, introduced me to a darling, yummy ghost, and gave me what I desire most when I read…A happy ever after ending. I felt sorry for Kyle and his imprisonment. I thought the diaries were an ingenious way to bring the history into the present. Patti used vivid, palpable word pictures and painted lovely scenes with her words. I was sorry Rollie died, but overall this was an excellent read! This story is one that when I just need a bit of Scotland, and a big hunky hero, I will pick it up and read it again. Thank you Patti, excellent job, I completely enjoyed it!!

Desiree de Cleves

There is one problem I have with this story. Once I started I couldn’t put in down. Ms Shenberger had me intrigued the whole way through from the prologue to the Epilogue. She has woven characters to fall in love with; Devin is a wonderful heroine full of adventure and spirit. Lord Kyle MacLay is every girls dream specter. One minute I wanted Devin to find a way to help The Laird pass through to the other side, the next I was hoping he would be able to stay with Devin forever.

The end brings a true fairy tale finish for the happy ever after. Well worth a read.

Long and Short Romance

This was definitely an intriguing read about a ghost and human falling for one another. In this emotional story, you could feel for Devin as she struggled with her feelings for Kyle and with her grief over the loss of her beloved cousin. She is conflicted over her feelings for Kyle as he is a ghost (and what human wouldn’t be a bit conflicted over that?). The couple shares an interesting relationship and I enjoyed the banter and chemistry between the two as they spend time together and work to solve the mystery that has kept Kyle a prisoner on earth.

In addition to the emotion and characters of the story, the author’s vivid descriptions of the locale and characters really made me feel as though I were there. I was swept away by the story and enjoyed the escape into this fascinating tale.

The concept of The Laird’s Lady is fascinating and I enjoyed the many unexpected turns that the story took as we learned more about Kyle’s past. I will say tha t the ending is one that I definitely didn’t see coming. In fact, I am still in shock over it, but I did enjoy the interesting twist. The author did a wonderful job of surprising this reader!

5 Tombstone Rating

This story captured my attention from the beginning. Devin’s confusion about the proper behavior of the Lady of the Manor amused me, and yet I could sympathize with her as well. Lord Kyle popping in and out at inconvenient times added humor to the story. I felt the characters were believable, and continued to grow and change in ways that were true to the story. Devin’s determined search for the truth is a constant throughout the story. Towards the end, you feel as if the mystery is solved, but keep reading…it isn’t.

I loved this story! Patti Shenberger drew me in and made me care about Devin and Lord Kyle. I wanted to solve the mystery right along with her! The descriptions of the Scottish landscapes and life in earlier times were clear and vivid, and made me feel that I was there. I am definitely looking forward to reading more stories by this author.

This book was fun - The Laird's Lady is that rare combination of sweet and sexy. Lord Kyle's story of almost-love followed by eternal loss will melt your heart, and his unexpected lust for the new Lady of Loch Haven castle will have you wishing for a Scottish ghost of your very own. Devin can't resist him - who could? - but just when you think their love story is complete, beware: it isn't. There's a twist that will make you gasp with despair. Then one last twist...and of course, a happy ending!

The Captain’s Wench

I am not a regular reader of paranormal stories. I’ve just never really gotten into this genre, but the premise of The Captain’s Wench fascinated me and I have to say Ms. Shenberger did not disappoint. It is a captivating story.

Meg Carroll is a romance novelist who buys on old house off Cape Cod. Little does she know that the house is haunted by the ghost of the previous owner. I always find it fun to read (and write) stories with a heroine romance author. Meg came across very real as she is similar to authors I know who through the course of her life, needs to get away from it all. I enjoyed the way Meg not only had to deal with the ludicrous idea of a ghost but also the sobering realities that went along with it. This story kept me turning the pages just to find out how Meg would deal with the situations Captain London threw at her. They certainly were more than she ever expected.

Captain Alexander London has for the past hundred and fifty years been cursed to remain fixed in his house. It was delightful to me, the reader, to watch the course of events unfurl as Meg arrived and broke his ghostly rut. The heroine impressed me as she remained undaunted by his presence. I also found it romantic that she was able to remind him that he was not only a ghost but a man. His reaction made for great reading because Alex is the epitome of the ‘tortured hero’.

Though this story was novella in length, the author brings about a moving, emotional tale with fully drawn characters. Writing shorter lengths can be tricky but Ms. Shenberger has mastered it wonderfully. As I read this book, I kept thinking it reminded me of the old black and white movie from the ‘40’s, The Ghost and Mrs. Muir. And as I checked the author’s website, she too had this in mind. If you enjoy paranormal stories and a sexy, ghostly hero, you really should give this one a try. Review by Orange Blossom

Buying Heron House is the next step in Meg Carroll’s life plan. It’s the perfect place for her to finish her story about pirates and love. Despite the rumors of a ghostly inhabitant, Meg sets up her home office and starts painting walls.

Captain Alexander London died with his ship and has been haunting his own home for over 150 years. He doesn’t like people living in his house and has successfully scared off each and every person. When Meg moves in and starts painting his walls he is surprised to discover that she is the one person who isn’t scared of him.

The Captain’s Wench by Patti Shenberger is a well written enjoyable read. Meg discovers Alex in the house she purchases and doesn’t know what to do. It is evident that she is drawn to him and Ms. Shenberger writes in a way that the reader is drawn into Meg’s emotions. As I was reading, I was pulled along the roller coaster ride between Alex and Meg. I could feel the yearning from Meg and at the same time her refusal to believe that anything could ever exist between herself and a ghost. This was an easy, fast read for me. I enjoyed The Captain’s Wench and look forward to reading more books by Ms. Shenberger. Reviewed by: Kim N. at Fallen Angels Reviews

Popular romance writer, Meg Carroll, knows it’s time to leave New York City behind her and all the terrible memories of her cheating, lying, womanizing and now dead fiancé, Eric Malone. He was a famous director and seemed to have plenty of women falling at his feet all the time. When Meg found out about him having an affair, she decided to give him back her engagement ring.  Now is as good a time as any to make a fresh start.

Packing up her belongings, she and her chocolate Labrador Retriever, Hershey, head to what they hope will be their new house in Massachusetts. The house is old, but very appealing to Meg. Ironically though, the realtor wants to steer her away from buying this house. When Meg asks her why she shouldn’t move into the Heron House the realtor finally admits the house is haunted by Captain Alex London. He owned the house back in the 1800’s and planned on using it when he retired from the sea. Unfortunately, he never did see his retirement because his ship was lost at sea. The story intrigues Meg and she still moves forward with her plans of owning the house.

When she moves in, she and Hershey start experiencing strange things going on throughout the Heron House. The culprit behind all of these strange occurrences is of course Alex trying his hardest to scare yet another occupant out of what he thinks is still his house. But Meg is tough though. She isn’t happy with Alex’s pranks and when he shows himself to her, she makes certain she gives him a piece of her mind. Alex isn’t happy with the fact that Meg isn’t scared enough to leave. As he continually tries to unnerve Meg, he begins to realize that there is something about this beautiful woman that is making him feel things he shouldn’t be feeling.

What’s the story behind Alex and why hasn’t he crossed over to the other side yet? Is it possible for Meg and Alex to learn how to co-exist in the house? Does Alex ever find out why Meg is so different than any other woman he has ever met?

Ms. Shenberger did a fantastic job telling this story. She had me engrossed from the very first page and held my attention to the very end. I couldn’t wait to find out the full story behind Alex and why he never crossed over to the other side. The author superbly created likeable characters that everyone could relate to and molded them around a very compelling storyline. I wanted desperately for Meg to find the peace she was looking for away from all the bad memories in New York. I also wanted Alex to find the missing link that was preventing him from crossing over to the other side. This story is definitely one that I would recommend to other readers and I eagerly look forward to reading more from this author in the near future.

A Miracle Through Time

The author has written the ultimate time travel romance. As you read this story, you will feel like you are living the excitement of the riverboat gambling days of the 1800’s. You can almost feel the paddlewheels churning up the frothy river water and the sound of the steam powering the boat. Watching how Miri adjusts to life in the past, where there are so many modern conveniences in the future will keep you turning the pages. The passion between Matt & Miri builds to an exciting climax with a shocking twist that will make you want to read more from these authors. Sherry – MyBookCravings.com

A Miracle Through Time reminds me of an old time movie that spins love inside the heart while keeping fingers crossed that the two lovers will unite and stay together. With fantastic dialogue and unforgettable characters, this story is superb in every way. There were many times I felt as if I had stepped back into time with Miri. The vibrant surroundings draw in the reader on a riverboat escapade that is marvelous. These two lovers leave a wonderful impression on the reader. Patti Shenberger and Nancy Fraser detail an extraordinary tale that is richly extravagant and loaded in sweet passion for Miri and Matt. They pen a story that makes this reader wish she could hop aboard the River Maiden every day and take a romantic cruise with charming Matt! Reviewed by: Linda L

This was a thoroughly enjoyable read! Factually sound, there were enough humorously light moments to hold this reader’s interest. The author created characters that are strong and vibrant, each stood out with their own traits and quirks, making them unique. Although this was definitely Miri and Matt’s story, Jake and Elizabeth were equally strong characters. I particularly like the twist on the last page that spins on its head all I expected would happen in Elizabeth’s love life. Overall, this is a very well written story bringing the author’s skill with words to the fore. Caro – Reviewer for Coffee Time Romance

Take No Prisoners

Ms. Shenberger takes us on a wildly fun and emotional ride in this contemporary, heartfelt romance. Soap actress Francesca "Frankie" Canfield flippantly lands herself in some hot water while trying to drum up some ratings. The 'love of her life' is none to pleased with her antics, especially since he isn't!

Frankie is used to being top of the grapevine, where hounding press and calls for interviews are just tokens of success. It's a very different story for her victim, and a more personal level of attention she gains from the small home-town crowd that is so interested in this affair, however. The plot twists until the jokes on her; because it was gossip that kicked off her own career, and had one or two other effects, as well. From sitting down for a chat with Regis to dating Geraldo, a starlet's life is never dull.

Life in the fast lane (and in the slow lane next it, too) was never so fun.

Review by Snapdragon

Soap opera star Frankie Canfield just announced on the Regis and Kelly morning talk show that she’s getting married to her hometown’s Sheriff. This little announcement is part of a publicity stunt conceived of by Till Passion’s End’s producers. Too bad no one remembered to let the Sheriff in on the stunt. And too bad no one let Frankie know that Harmony’s current Sheriff is her high school sweetheart and former lover, Jake Maxwell, the man who broke her heart many years ago. Jake isn’t happy about Frankie’s little bombshell and is determined to set her straight as soon as she arrives in Harmony. However, he soon changes his mind and decides to go through with the “fake” wedding. Will this be the right opportunity for two star-crossed lovers to finally get together?

Patti Shenberger’s Take No Prisoners is a fantastic read. It has all the right elements – hot characters, scorching passion, denial of feelings and a little subterfuge. Jake and Frankie are both strong willed and neither wants to admit it when they’re wrong. While Frankie eventually discovers why Jake left her all those years ago, they never discuss it, and she never lets Jake know that she knows the truth. She just begins working on a plan to get her man. I loved that Frankie and Jake never stopped loving one another. All the little things that Jake did as an unconscious testament of his love for her while they were apart were very endearing. Frankie’s last scheme to get Jake back was anything but subtle, and I’m glad it worked.

Frankie and Jake were made for one another! Reviewer: Yolanda

Womb For Rent

An unusual beginning, unheard of in the ‘traditional’ romances, Ms. Brian skillfully weaves a tale of a heartbroken man and a woman who taught him how to love again. Unlike most e-books, Womb For Rent has changed the way e-books are looked at today. As the name implies, this is a precious story you do not want to miss. 4 ½ Hearts!! Romance Industry Newsletter

Ms. Brian took two headstrong people and added in a baby. The combination could only spell L-O-V-E. Womb For Rent is a story of sadness and laughter mixed in with a healthy dose of love. As a reviewer, my only recommendation is to order this story today! Just Reviews

Be My Valentine

Patti Shenberger creates one beautiful and terribly romantic short story in her tale entitled Be My Valentine. I could see her love in this work, yet although there was no sex in it to get you week-kneed, it still touched my heart enough that I didn’t miss the physical element. To think that these two were in school together and attracted to each other, but were afraid of making the first move brought back memories. Be My Valentine was a good read. I’m glad I read it and think you will be too! Alicia – Two Lips Reviews

Where There’s Smoke

I found this short story to be very interesting. I was very worried about the length of Where There’s Smoke but it was intriguing. Patti Shenberger handles the whole situation in a way that takes out all of the stuff that doesn’t need to be in a romance and made this one a great read. Ms Shenberger gets a four angel review and my promise to check out more books from The Wild Rose Press. Missy – Fallen Angels Reviews

Where There’s Smoke may be a mini=read, but it says so much more than the words on the pages. I could imagine Cassie’s anger at the start, her desolation after the phone call, and her smug satisfaction at the end. Go Cassie! 3 Champagne flutes – Bloody Mary – Cocktail Reviews
